Are you afraid of being sold?
If that’s the case, you’re not alone. Unfortunately sales professionals are the subject of many jokes and clichés in shows. There’s even a famous play Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller that paints a rather sad image of a sales person. I’m amused when I hear business students claim that they want to work in marketing but would never want to sell.
I grew up with a positive image of sales as a profession. My father represented a large pharmaceutical company and his work introduced life changing medications to doctors, including antidepressants and for Parkinson disease. He took his work very seriously, constantly advancing his own education.
