
I’m sure there have been moments in your life when you felt overwhelmed. Life can sometimes feel like we’re drinking from a firehose. It’s too much, we think we can’t deal with it all. We feel at maximum capacity. We need a break.
Yet, Navy Seals’ research and experience has shown that when trainees feel they’re at the end of their rope, they’re at about 40% of what they can actually take. They help trainees discover their real capacity by pushing them beyond what they believe they can do.
I first encountered this sense of being at full capacity in my early twenties. I was a full time student. I had a full time job. And I wanted to continue skiing two or three days a week. This made me time-anxious in a good way. And I started to adopt habits and principles of personal efficiency. What we call “capacity”.
